It's All About the Beer, Buddy!

Hey Hey Hey!
Thanks for coming back to this blog!

Guess who's back! Beer Buddy here, after a small sabbatical, (and drinking myself into the GROUND! Hahaha!)

Well, I've had a bit of drinking happen in the past few weeks! It has been Christmas, it has been New Years Eve and New Years Day! It is nearly halfway to Australia Day! And I haven't put pen to paper in such a long time! It's now about time that I did such a thing, and tell you about all the wonderful beers that I have had the pleasure of tasting and drinking over this fine festive season, including some special editions (that I have to remember what they were!)

So without further ado, let's get into it!

Okay, so with summer truly upon us, I have HAD to wet my whistle with some fine imports, exports and several ales, lagers and pots, middies and pints.

I will first go to the latest beer that I have had. And that was...

Drum roll please!

6. Miller/Coors Brewery - Miller Chill - Low Carb Beer - 4.0%

A refreshing light beer with a HINT of LIME!

Well, I can almost hear some of you groaning, saying it's not a real beer, or it's a "lightweight's beer" or a "fake cider"Miller Chill is beer that pays "homage" to the Latin practice of adding dash of lime to beer to produce fresh flavours and vibrant aromatics. A "Chelada" styled lager, Miller Chill is also low in carbs, giving you the flavour. And this is what our friends at Dan Murphy's have said about this beer. A "Chelada" is more of a mixed drink than a dressed up beer.

This beer is actually made in Australia, licensed by Millers/Coors. I haven't seen it anywhere in the else until I was in Europe lately, where I saw it in a Co-op deli (or what the English call their deli's). It does taste a little like a chelada, but without the salt.

I do enjoy this beer! I also like radlers (which funny enough means cyclist in German), which are sometimes like a shandy, but the beer is mixed with a lemon-lime soda. I like radlers because they are different and refreshing. A radler was used to be called a shandygaff, which was developed in Bavaria, which contained 2 parts beer and 1 part ginger beer/ale. I do like the sound of that though!

Now with a bit of theory behind us, I'm going to wrap my laughing gear around one now

Hmmm...

VERY refreshing, just like having a beer with lime in it. It's very crisp, and on hot days with this little number, it would be so very easy to keep drinking.

The colour is fantastic. I love it. It's bright which for me makes it look refreshing! There is a bit of bubbles though, so the aeration is quite high, but that must be because of the addition of other carbohydrates and the like to keep the lime taste.

The aroma is very citrusy. It may be a problem for those that don't really care for a non hoppy smell. For those that do love citrus aromas, this is right up your alley. It's very fragrant!

The pour - it pours poorly though into a glass. Not much head when poured slow, and too much head when done quickly. This may come from the extra bubbles that it has.

But - it does taste good. But again, I actually couldn't drink these all day. I can understand that some people could, due to the weather, but the aftertaste kind of got on my nerves and left a bitter, unpleasant taste in my mouth after having a few. I was drinking this on a VERY HOT DAY, so it was going down a treat. It goes well with anything on a BBQ (I.E. anything burnt!), and especially well with fish. Red meat is good too. Chicken as well, but it must be roasted

OK - NOW TO THE VERDICT!!!

Sight - 7 - I like the colour. I like crispness, and that can come across in the colour, as the clarity in the beer is amazing
Smell - 6.5 - I like the smell. I like the smell of citrus, but not for everyone.
Taste - 6.5 - I like the taste. The lime in it was not too overpowering for me, but I do know people who think it is a bit too much
Feel - 6 - It felt a bit too... watery? I like a bit of thickness in beer
Aftertaste - 5 - did not like the aftertaste and the aroma that was left after having a few.
Pleasure - 6.5 - like it. It's another hot climate type of beers.
Ability - 7 - Just like a Tiger, it's a great seller in the hotter climates and would advise people to give it a go
Encore - 5 - I could not drink this all day.
Reputable - 5 - I have only seen it here, and in the UK. Unsure of anywhere else, but please inform me if YOU have

Purchase - 6 - I would buy this beer for something different. I can see a few ladies liking this beer, because it IS easy to drink

VERDICT - I give Miller Chill a 6 out of 10!

Well, it's been a while, and now that I am a lot more sober, I will be making a few more regular entries into this fine blog about beer!

Next outing will be asking some mates, and you, the public, about what you like in a beer and which ones tickle your fancy!

So - until then!

Seeya - AND DRINK ON!

BEER BUDDY!
